At the Zoo

We're in Illinois for an impromptu visit. We were supposed to be flying to california for our friend's wedding, but alas, air travel with two is tiring and expensive. So, after some thought, (and a few tanks of gas) we decided to make a trip to Illinois for the 4th.

We have been all over the road. Yesterday, we traveled to St. Louis to see Jon's Grandma and met her at the zoo. We also got to see my brother at the zoo for a bit too! The boys had a wonderful time. It was such a nice day for the zoo for July 1st too!

Here are a few pics from our trip to the zoo! More pics of our trip will be posted later!

On the train! A very happy boy! The train had to make a stop for gas!
I thought Zach was going to shoot out of the train to help the conductor!
The elephants! Our last stop at the zoo.
We were at the zoo for 6 hours!
How fitting that we only got the backside of the elephant! HA!
A Build-a-Bear at the zoo! Oh my! Love the elephant bath!
Zach made a lion and named it 'Astro' after the dog on the Jetsons!
Zach's favorite cartoon!

In the butterly house. A butterfly landed on the shoulder strap of the diaper bag.
On the train.

In front of the giraffes!
This penguin was responsible for making a
large splash (multiple times) and waking up
little Ryan from his nap!
I have a photo taken in front of this statue as a kid, but I don't remember being this small in front of it. Jon and I think we should take this shot every year we come back to Illinois as a growth marker for the boys!
